Summer Soccer & FYSA's COVID-19 Mitigation Plan

UPDATED March 1st, 2021.

For the Summer 2021 season, a COVID-19 Mitigation Plan was published and implemented to provide guidelines and parameters for our programs to operate during this challenging time. While many things have evolved over the past year regarding best-practices and guidance for a variety of areas of our lives, many things have also remained consistent.

For 2021, many of the same components or last year's plan will continue to be implemented such as making available sanitizing products for volunteer coaches and adjustments to how we interact at the soccer fields. Similar to last year, some specific tweaks to our normal field layout plans will also be repeated to allow for appropriate spacing amongst spectators, focused on eliminating instances of two fields sidelines being crammed together, painting small markers in the grass along the spectator areas as visual guides for social distancing between family units, etc. Spectators are always welcome to wear masks or face coverings. Players who choose to do so will also be allowed, though this will not be a requirement.

As we keep tabs on the guidelines, advice and information put forth by governing bodies and healthcare entities, closer to the summer we will revise (if appropriate) and publish a Summer 2021 COVID-19 Mitigation Plan and make available online and via print, including a copy in each coach's team bag. Last year, at the state-level, there were specific Health Mandates and industry specific attachments that were in place which many organizations and programs like FYSA were doing our best to adjust plans and follow as these best-practices and guidelines were released. While those documents are no longer governing our activities, the spirit of them will continue to be utilized as we strive to follow best practices and be mindful of the health of our members and community.

If any member does not feel that they can abide by the guidelines that will be set forth in that plan, upon its release, we will respect that preference and offer a full refund for their registration. Additionally, those who feel that they cannot register until that plan has been published will also be respected and we will accommodate and assist however we can. Finally, if a member registers for the program and later changes their mind and feels they are unable to participate, they can communicate that to us directly prior to the start of the season and we will also offer a full refund.

We are a diverse community as it is and our soccer community is no different. Our love for this sport is the common factor that brings us together. We look forward to enjoying the season with any of our members who we will see at the fields. For those taking this year to enjoy worthwhile, non-soccer activities with their families, we wish them a great summer and look forward to seeing them again in the future!

If any FYSA member has questions or concerns, please contact us. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner.
